The highest jewerly (or pure gold content) title is 18 carats (3/4 pure gold and 1/4 other metals). This is the only legal title in France : it is guarantedd by the State which affixes its stamp (Official Warranty Service). In the majority of foreign countries, other lessrich titles (14, 12, 9 et 8 carats) are commonly marketed. Each gold jewel must have : - The manufacturer's liability mark approved by the Administration - The official warranty guarantee title (for jewelery over 0.5 grams)
